I observed Hermit crabs at the beach of Cay Levisa, Kuba1 , which came to the beach with their abdomens stuck in snail shells.
I had the idea that it would be nice if artificially made, artistically designed "snail shells" could be provided for the porcelain hermit crabs. If you came back to the beach after a few years, all the hermit crabs would come to the beach in pretty, colourful and cheerful shells and create a living work of art.
Possibly this could also be realised in zoological gardens.

- Research what material will withstand seawater.
- research whether it would be an ecologically justifiable art project
- what size and shape would be right
- what design would be appropriate (both for the artwork and for the hermit crabs)
- permits, partners?
