First letter
The first letter of the sentence on which the abstraction is based determines the assignment to the individual pictorial work. For this purpose, special characters, numbers and spaces at the beginning of the sentence are deleted. If the first letter is a mutated vowel, it is changed to the corresponding vowel.
Sorting text
The rule for cleansing the sentence of the data basis to determine the first letter is also applied to the first letter of the complete sentence.
There were no sentences beginning with the letters ‘Q’ or ‘X’ at the time of the data basis. The sentence is then converted to lower case and sorted by alphabet. Special characters in the subsequent text are retained.
Size abstraction
The individual letters are integrated into the artwork in the size of 7 cm * 3.94 cm.
Arrangement of abstractions
The abstractions are arranged so that there is a distance of 5 mm between them.
They are arranged in alphabetical order from left to right and from top to bottom.
Definition of dimensions of individual works
The individual works are arranged in such a way that an upright work is created. For the individual letters, it is determined which distribution of the individual works on columns and lines achieves the smallest difference between the number of columns and lines and at the same time minimises the number of spaces in the last line.
The single work has an outer margin of 1 cm.

CONCEPT

The work ‘Alphabets’ presents the abstractions of the isbn-maschine sorted by alphabet in individual works for each letter with one image each letter.
The data basis is the status of the isbn-machine on 01 May 2024.
The individual pictorial works have different dimensions. The definition of the dimensions is chosen in such a way that each pictorial work is upright or square when all abstractions are arranged. The dimensions of the single abstractions remain unchanged in their proportion.

Idea

Abstractions grouped by the first letters of the sentences of the isbn-maschine. A combination with language versions would also be conceivable.
A series of pictorial works is envisaged, each of which lists sentences with the same initial letter. Possibly supplemented by a work with special characters. These all have the same format (this is then defined by the letter with the most frequent occurrence) and are hung in groups.
